LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Association of
REALTORS(R) today announced the launch of a simple, low-cost, Web-based,
do-not-call compliance solution for California REALTORS(R) through DNC
Sentry(TM), designed to provide necessary safe harbor protection for brokers
beyond simply checking the do-not-call lists. The safe-harbor provision can
help protect a real estate brokerage from lawsuits involving violations for
phone calls made to numbers listed in the national Do-Not-Call Registry.
DNC Sentry(TM) is a monthly subscription service that includes a fast,
easy-to-use lookup tool to check telephone numbers against both the National
Do-Not-Call Registry and a company's do-not-call list, with the capability to
check one number at a time, or multiple numbers simultaneously. Subscribers
also can print a call list or view it on-screen, and track inquiries, past
transactions, and written permissions to maximize callable numbers. The
service also provides automatic maintenance of a broker's do-not-call list as
well as automatic downloads of the National Do-Not-Call Registry.
"By utilizing this new service, brokers can now protect themselves against
their agents' routine calls to FSBOs, expired listings and past clients, as
well as responding to new inquiries," said C.A.R. President Ann Pettijohn.
"DNC Sentry(TM) is an easy-to-use yet comprehensive real estate-specific
solution that addresses brokers' do-not-call concerns, and is always
accessible to users from any Internet connection."
The discounted cost of DNC Sentry(TM) service to C.A.R. members is
80 cents per user, per month, with a $10 monthly minimum per company. There
are no commitments or contracts for C.A.R. members to take advantage of the
service. Also, subscribing brokers have the ability to brand the DNC
Sentry(TM) Web pages with their logos.
Other safe-calling tools introduced this year by C.A.R. include the
Safe-Calling (TM) Compliance Kit for Real Estate Professionals, designed to
help brokers and real estate office managers train their personnel to comply
with the safe-harbor provision of federal do-not-call regulations and the
Consent for Communications Form, created as an added assurance to help
REALTORS(R) and brokers safely comply with the federal do-not-call rules when
following up with contacts via phone, e-mail, or fax.
