SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Free continuing education
courses are now being offered electronically to member REALTORS(R), the
California Association of REALTORS(R) (C.A.R.) announced today. REALTORS(R)
now will pay only for license renewal exams rather than purchasing both course
materials and the corresponding exams.
Market research conducted earlier this year revealed that REALTORS(R) were
looking for a convenient option to live lecture or mail-based courses to
fulfill California Dept. of Real Estate-mandated continuing education
requirements.
"C.A.R.'s innovative approach to a new continuing education format
provides both the flexibility that our members have demanded as well as the
standard of quality that is our tradition," said C.A.R. President Ann
Pettijohn. "The decision to provide access to online learning through the
C.A.R. Learning Center fits today's profile of REALTORS(R) who increasingly
use the Internet in daily business practices."
In addition to interactive courses offered in HTML format on either CD-ROM
or online, PDF files of the courses can be printed in hard copy. Course
materials are organized in complete packages, for either 45-hour license
renewal or 12-hour first-time renewals. The library of courses from C.A.R.
ranges from Dept. of Real Estate (DRE)-mandated subjects in ethics, fair
housing, trust fund management and agency relationships to disclosures and
transaction management.
The exams are accessible only after reviewing the course materials and
answering sample review questions. In compliance with DRE regulations, the
mandated study timeframe for each course must also be met before exams are
accessed. For example, a course for three hours of credit requires three
hours of study time. The final online exams are timed, in accordance with DRE
regulations. Test results are displayed immediately after completing the
online exams, and once the final tests are successfully completed, users can
print a certificate of completion.
Costs to C.A.R. members for the license renewal exams are $49 to complete
the 45-hour license renewal and $32 to complete the 12-hour first-time
renewal. Both the courses and exams are available online at
http://www.car.learningcenter.com. Individual courses also are available.
The California Association of REALTORS(R) (http://www.car.org) is one of
the largest state trade organizations in the United States, with more than
150,000 members dedicated to the advancement of professionalism in real
estate. C.A.R. is headquartered in Los Angeles.
