 Company to Provide Warranty and Repair Services for Xbox(TM) in North America

    MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Solectron Corporation
(NYSE: SLR), the world's leading provider of electronics manufacturing and
supply-chain management services, said today that its Global Services business
unit will provide after-sales service and support for the Microsoft Xbox(TM)
video game console in North America.  Financial terms of agreement were not
disclosed.
    Under the agreement, Solectron Global Services will handle all North
American warranty and non-warranty repair, and refurbishment for Microsoft's
future-generation video-game console, which is scheduled to be introduced in
North America Nov. 15.

    Solectron expects to service Xbox at its fast-depot repair centers in
Memphis, Tenn.; Toronto, Canada; and Guadalajara, Mexico.  Those facilities
provide the fast-turnaround and rapid response times essential to service
products, such as laptop and desktop computers, cell phones, and advanced
telecommunications and networking equipment, all of which contain information
vital to the product's end user.
