COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Huntington National Bank
recently announced the addition of the Situs Small Cap Fund, to its 17-Fund
family. The Fund is designed to provide long-term capital appreciation to
investors with a unique strategy that offers the flexibility to invest in U.S.
and foreign companies with growth or value characteristics.
"Situs is defined as the place where something exists or originates," said
Randy Bateman, Huntington's chief investment officer and portfolio manager.
"It's a perfect word to describe the strategy that drives this Fund. We scour
the globe for small companies whose geographic locations give them special,
competitive advantages."
The Fund's portfolio is managed to give investors broad exposure to U.S.
and foreign small-cap stocks. A key focus is pursuing companies whose situs,
or geographical advantages, position them to outperform other small-cap
companies. Situs advantages may include favorable political, taxation, social
or economic conditions or population demographics.
The Situs Small Cap Fund is the sixth Fund Huntington has introduced since
Spring 2001. Many of the newer Funds have been outperforming the S&P 500,
gaining recognition from The Wall Street Journal and other media outlets. WSJ
has ranked many of these Funds as number one or top ten performers in their
respective categories.
Bateman is the Situs Fund Manager and is responsible for managing the
assets for the Private Financial Group, the Trust department and Huntington
Funds. A graduate of North Carolina State University, Bateman has more than
25 years of experience in managing fiduciary accounts and he has served as an
analyst and portfolio manager for four major banks. Earlier in his career,
Bateman was founder and president of MPACT Securities Corporation, a
Texas-based investment advisor. Bateman obtained his Chartered Financial
Analyst (CFA) designation in 1978 and has written numerous articles for
financial publications.
Huntington's Private Financial Group's goal is to meet individual
financial needs by offering investors a broad range of options, such as
personal trust, asset management, investment advisory, insurance, deposits and
loans. The Private Financial Group's team-focused, integrated approach gives
customers direct access to experts and customized services.
