LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Association of
REALTORS(R) Scholarship Foundation recently awarded 11 scholarships to college
students planning careers in real estate. The scholarships were awarded at
the Association's annual trade show, California REALTOR(R) EXPO 2004, held
this year in Santa Clara.
"Recipients of a C.A.R. Scholarship Foundation award have demonstrated a
serious commitment to a career in real estate," said C.A.R. President Ann
Pettijohn. "They've completed a minimum of two real estate or real
estate-related college-level courses and are currently enrolled in at least
one real estate or real estate-related course.
"C.A.R.'s scholarships address our goal of bringing new professionals into
the real estate industry and training them with the skills required to
effectively meet the needs of future homeowners in California," she said.
The California Association of REALTORS(R) Scholarship Foundation was
established in 1948. Scholarships are awarded three times annually, during
C.A.R. board of directors meetings in January and June and at the annual
California REALTOR(R) EXPO and business meetings held in the fall.
Scholarships were awarded to:
Amy Brooks of Elk Grove, a student at California State University,
Sacramento; $1,000 scholarship from the Aurelia Gebert Memorial
Scholarship;
Daniel Brown of Big Bear City, a student at University of California,
Berkeley; $1,000 scholarship from the Jacalyn Gangnes Memorial
Scholarship;
Coi Chu of Sacramento, a student at California State University,
Sacramento; $1,000 scholarship from the Glenn D. Willaman Memorial
Scholarship;
Pauline Conway of Santa Rosa, a student at Santa Rosa Jr. College; $1,000
scholarship from the Pete Lombardo Memorial Scholarship
Douglas Evans of Sacramento, a student at California State University,
Sacramento; $1,000 scholarship from the Don Beck Memorial Scholarship;
Justin Fleury of Highlands, a student at American River College; $1,000
scholarship from the Art Leitch Memorial Scholarship;
Candace Hernandez of Santa Rosa, a student at Santa Rosa Jr. College;
$1,000 scholarship from the Women's Council Scholarship;
Thanh Thanh Vu Lam of Stanton, a student at Goldenwest College; $1,000
scholarship from the Pete Lombardo Memorial Scholarship;
Charlotte Lewis of El Cajon, a student at Cuyamaca College; $1,000
scholarship from the Carolyn D' Agosta Honorary Scholarship;
Joseph Rutherford of Granite Bay, a student at University of California,
Santa Barbara; $1,000 scholarship from the Harry and Jeanette Heron
Scholarship;
Jennifer Uribe of Citrus Heights, a student at American River College;
$1,000 scholarship from the Women's Council of REALTORS(R) Scholarship.
