Val Wheeler Joins Beacon Properties As Chief Executive Of Midwest Region

    BOSTON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- E. Valjean (Val) Wheeler has joined
Beacon Properties Corporation (NYSE: BCN) as chief executive of Beacon
Properties Midwest, Chicago, Illinois, and senior vice president of the
corporation, it was announced today by Alan M. Leventhal, Beacon's president
and chief executive officer.
    In welcoming Wheeler, Leventhal stated: "Val Wheeler's extensive knowledge
and senior-level experience in office properties will be of great value in
growing and managing the Midwest sector of Beacon's national portfolio.  His
appointment underscores Beacon's strong commitment to our strategy of regional
diversification."
    As chief executive of Beacon Properties Midwest, Wheeler will have
responsibility for directing the growth and operations of Beacon Properties
Corporation in the Midwestern United States.  Beacon Properties Midwest is the
third regional office established by Beacon.  Beacon Properties Southeast and
Beacon Properties Mid-Atlantic regional offices were established in 1996.
    Beacon's Midwest portfolio will total 2.7 million square feet --
17 percent of the company's total -- on completion of the recently-announced
agreement to purchase Westbrook Corporate Center, consisting of 1.1 million
square feet, in Westchester, Illinois.  The Midwest portfolio also includes
Presidents Plaza, a 791,000 square foot office property near O'Hare
International Airport in Chicago, Illinois; Tri-State International,
548,000 square feet, Lincolnshire, Illinois; and AT&T Plaza, 225,318 square
feet, Oak Brook, Illinois.
    Wheeler has twenty-five years of real estate experience, the majority of
which has been concentrated in the office building sector.  Prior to joining
Beacon, he was president and chief operating officer of Equity Office
Holdings, L.L.C., Chicago, a national office property company founded by real
estate investor Sam Zell.  Wheeler has also served as executive vice president
of the Broe Companies, Denver, Colorado; general manager and vice president of
Williams Realty Corporation, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
    Wheeler graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Education
as well as post-graduate work at the University of Oklahoma.  He is a member
of the Urban Land Institute and has served on the National Advisory Council of
the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).
