Huntington Names Malear Director of Human Resources

    COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Huntington Bancshares
Incorporated (Nasdaq: HBAN; http://www.huntington.com ) announced that Catherine H.
Malear joined Huntington as Executive Vice President and Director of Human
Resources, effective November 6.
    "Cathy has a deep and long background in human resources," said Thomas E.
Hoaglin, Huntington chairman, president and chief executive officer.  "She has
considerable experience in the areas of talent assessment, leadership
development, diversity initiatives, culture change and compensation.  We are
excited to have her as part of the Huntington management team."
    With more than 20 years of experience, Malear most recently served as
senior vice president and head of human resources for ING Americas, the
Atlanta-based division of a Dutch financial services enterprise with 32,000
employees.  She previously served as vice president of management resources
for Rockwell International in Milwaukee; as HR director of a business unit for
Allied Signal; and she held various human resource leadership positions at
General Electric, including human resources director of divisions of GE
Lighting and GE Aerospace.  Malear is a graduate of Southern Illinois
University.
