JusticeTrax LIMS-plus Approved for Mississippi Department Of Public Safety Crime Lab

PHOENIX, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of
Lucent Technologies, today announced that Mississippi Department of Public
Safety Crime Lab (MCL) completed its acceptance testing and has approved the
JusticeTrax(R) LIMS-plus(TM) case management software solution. MCL had
purchased a turnkey solution package from JusticeTrax that included
51 LIMS-plus licenses, hardware and consulting services for its four state
crime labs.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety Crime Lab is a statewide crime
lab system headquartered in Jackson, Miss., with additional locations in
Batesville, Gulfport and Meridian, Miss. MCL is a full-service lab that
serves all federal, state and local criminal justice agencies throughout the
state. It processes more than 50,000 pieces of evidence and approximately
19,000 cases annually with an expected increase of 15 to 20 percent over the
next year.
    JusticeTrax LIMS-plus is a Microsoft(R) Windows(R)-based software solution
that automatically assigns unique bar codes to each evidence submission for
chain-of-custody tracking and evidence location management. LIMS-plus records
requests for analysis and results, and quickly generates customizable and
statistical lab reports. The case management solution comes complete with
five comprehensive analytical modules, advanced bar code technology and
customizable security features.
With the installation of JusticeTrax LIMS-plus, MCL now has an automated
state-of-the-art software system that reduces time required in analyzing
evidence, disseminating forensic laboratory reports and compiling statistics.
It now allows the four MCL locations to communicate and transfer information
in real-time while increasing the accuracy of data transfers and evidence
handling. In addition, the LIMS-plus system easily integrated into MCL's
existing wide-area-network system.
