Three Chicago Title and Trust Subsidiaries Adopt Company Name

             Company Offers Unified Real Estate-Related Services

    CHICAGO, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago Title and Trust Co. (CT&T)
announced today that its subsidiaries Credit Data Reporting Services Inc.,
National Flood Information Services Inc. and Market Intelligence Inc. are
renamed Chicago Title Credit Services, Inc., Chicago Title Flood Services Inc.
and Chicago Title -- Market Intelligence Inc., respectively.
    "Our customers asked us to provide them with unified real estate-related
products and services, and the new name signifies CT&T's commitment to meeting
that crucial need," said Mike Keller, executive vice president, Technology and
Real Estate-related Services, Chicago Title and Trust Co.  "This is an
important step in the company's strategic plan to bring a comprehensive
package of services to the lending community."
    Acquired by CT&T in September 1995, Kingston, N.Y.-based Chicago Title
Credit Services provides credit reporting services nationwide and is the
nation's No. 1 source for merged credit reports.
    Arlington, Texas-based Chicago Title Flood Services was acquired by CT&T
in May 1995 and provides flood zone status and geographic hazard data on
properties throughout the United States, processing more than half of its
orders with geographic information systems.
    Providing alternative property evaluation products, traditional appraisals
and related real estate information nationwide, Chicago Title -- Market
Intelligence Inc. was acquired by CT&T in July 1996.  The company is based in
Hopkinton, Mass.
    Chicago Title and Trust Co. is the source of real estate services,
providing title insurance, escrow and closing services, as well as appraisal,
credit and flood certification products through a network of more than 300
offices and approximately 3,700 agents nationwide.  CT&T's title insurance
subsidiaries -- including Chicago Title Insurance Co., Ticor Title Insurance
Co. and Security Union Title Insurance Co. -- together issue approximately one
in every four title insurance policies in the United States with annual gross
revenues in excess of $1.3 billion.  Chicago Title and Trust Co. is a wholly
owned subsidiary of Alleghany Corp. (NYSE: Y).
