NETGEAR's New Femtocell Voice Gateway (DVG834GH) with ADSL2+, Wi-Fi, VoIP
and 3G Femtocell Technology to Interoperate with Kineto's Femtocell RAN
Gateway
SANTA CLARA, Calif. and MILPITAS, Calif., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- NETGEAR(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically
advanced, branded networking solutions, and Kineto Wireless, Inc., the key
innovator and leading supplier of UMA/GAN technology, today announced a
plan to achieve interoperability between NETGEAR's Femtocell Voice Gateway
(DVG834GH) and Kineto Wireless' UMA Network Controller (UNC), a 3GPP
standards-based femtocell RAN Gateway.
The combined solution will enable mobile operators to extend and
improve cellular phone coverage for home and small office users, as well as
provide customers with affordable and easy access to a range of advanced
home networking services via existing 3G handsets. The new Femtocell Voice
Gateway will be on display in Kineto Wireless' stand (1A49, Hall 1) at the
Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona next week, February 11-14,
2008.
"We're very pleased to work with Kineto on this innovative and
standards-based Femtocell Gateway solution, which promises to greatly
benefit our service provider partners around the world," said David James,
NETGEAR's director of product marketing for service provider markets.
"Kineto has been leading the industry's development of the 3GPP standard
UMA/GAN technology for mobile to IP internetworking, and is a key
technology partner to leading femtocell suppliers such as NEC and Ubiquisys
-- adhering to service provider demands for vendor interoperability."
Seven products in a single box, the NETGEAR Femtocell Voice Gateway
includes a comprehensive residential gateway with integrated ADSL2+ modem,
router, 10/100 wired LAN switch, 802.11g wireless access point, Voice
over-IP (VoIP), SPI double firewall, and private mobile network with 3G
femtocell technology. The gateway enables consumers to share their
broadband Internet connection with their mobile devices and networked
computers, both wired and wirelessly. Featuring a 3G (UMTS) femtocell with
HSDPA plus high-speed 802.11g, Wi-Fi and four 10/100 Ethernet ports, the
Femtocell Voice Gateway makes it possible for end users to download large
files, video conference, and distribute and play high-quality digital
movies, photos and MP3s on mobile devices in the blink of an eye.
"NETGEAR has a well deserved reputation in the global community of
service providers for high quality, innovative and reliable networking
solutions," stated Steve Shaw, associate vice president of marketing for
Kineto Wireless. "We view this collaboration with NETGEAR as a prime
example of our charter to work with an industry leader and promote an open
standard for the femtocell to network interface."
