CHANGZHOU, China, Feb. 29 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- On February 28, the
French company MONTUPET signed an agreement with administrative committee
of Changzhou National High-tech District, under which, the company will
invest USD 29.98 million in the district to develop engine cylinder heads
and other automobile parts.
Through careful inspection and investigation, MONTUPET Company finally
chose Changzhou National High-tech District in Jiangsu as the initial
production base in China. The project will be carried out in two phases.
Phase 1 is planned to occupy the land area of 60 mus, with the registered
capital of USD15 million, mainly to produce and develop precision castings
and raw castings. To date, the company has started to deal with
registration procedures. Construction can be expected in the near future.
The MONTUPET Company is specially engaged in producing engine cylinder
heads, with a history of more than one century and an annual output of 4
million units. As a leader in this industry worldwide, its factories can be
seen in European countries and America.
In 2006, the sales volume of this company was 460 million Euros. While
in 2007, the figure is expected to reach 520 million. Its clients include
Renault, Volkswagen, Citroen and other major automobile manufactures in the
world.
To date, a great many enterprises involved in automobile parts
production have chosen Changzhou High-tech District for investment,
including the world top 500 enterprises. The Canadian company Magna
International Inc. invested in the Power Assembly project and established a
research and development center; the American Visteon Company established
an automobile lighting system manufacturing factory; the Japanese company
BRIDGESTONE established a manufacturing base for shock absorbers and other
automobile parts; LEONI AG Group, a company from Germany established an
automobile cable production base; Mitsubishi Electric Corporation joined
hands with Taiwan Shihlin Electric & Engineering Corp in the development of
automobile motors, generators, distributor caps, electronic-controlled fuel
injection systems and other products. Chinese-listed Dongfeng Automobile
Co., Ltd. set up a factory to produce whole Pick UP cars; Dongfeng
Automobile also has some other companies at Changzhou to produce automobile
air conditioning tubes, power steering tubes, sensors, bearings, et al. A
large-scale automobile parts production chain has been formed in Changzhou
High-tech District.
