Advanced SD/HD Editing System Delivers 'Frictionless' Broadcast Workflow
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pinnacle
Systems(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: PCLE), a leader in digital video solutions,
announced the availability of version 6.1 of its Pinnacle Liquid real-time
standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) video editing systems for
broadcast environments. Liquid version 6.1 marks the first release of the
significantly improved Liquid version 6 software in broadcast editing
configurations. New capabilities include true multi-stream native high
definition editing, format-independent real-time effects, integrated DVD
authoring, advanced audio tools, multi-cam support and a redesigned user
interface.
With its unique integrated design, Liquid 6.1 delivers a frictionless
broadcast workflow that allows video to flow unhindered by format conversion
or time-consuming rendering steps -- enabling editors to focus on the creative
process. Several Liquid configurations optimized for broadcast environments
are now shipping as turnkey systems. A variety of analog and digital SD and HD
I/O options are available including the new chrome HD option with support for
uncompressed SD and HD through its SD/HD-SDI breakout box, as well as the blue
option with multi-speed SDTI capture, background capture and DVCPRO50 support.
"As with all of the video formats that Liquid supports, Liquid's native HD
and native HDV editing support means broadcasters can eliminate the
time-consuming and quality-deteriorating transcoding required by other
systems," said Matt Danilowicz, vice president and general manager, Broadcast
at Pinnacle Systems. "With Liquid version 6.1, broadcast customers can benefit
from a frictionless workflow where multiple streams of video and powerful
real-time capabilities yield more efficient results."
Liquid version 6.1 provides broadcasters with:
-- Full SD and HD support -- Liquid's SmartEDIT technology supports
multiple video formats, frame rates and resolutions simultaneously
within a single timeline, including native HDV, MPEG-2 IBP, MPEG-2
I-frame and uncompressed editing, all with real-time capture and
playback. Liquid includes full support for Panasonic P2 and Sony
XDCAM, as well as comprehensive control for all shipping Sony HDV
cameras, decks and devices. Liquid's real-time preview allows users to
see all formats, including HDV, directly on their computer monitor.
-- Thousands of real-time SD and HD effects -- Liquid's SmartRT
technology leverages the power of a computer's CPU and GPU to deliver
advanced, resolution-independent real-time effects, eliminating the
need for costly and quickly outdated proprietary hardware
acceleration.
-- Powerful, open design -- Liquid's open design facilitates integration
into new and existing infrastructures and workflows. Liquid supports
industry standards, including MXF and XML metadata exchange, shared
network projects with built-in instant messaging and a variety of
network storage configurations.
-- Enhanced audio tools -- Liquid includes a new audio processing engine
that provides a sophisticated audio mixer, support for full surround
sound, support for VST plug-ins and new effects such as audio time
warp.
-- New user interface -- Liquid's redesigned user interface includes
Windows-standard menus and simple import and export wizards. Liquid's
single-application design integrates the entire editing process,
including video editing and compositing, audio editing, titling and
DVD authoring, eliminating the need for users to spend time learning
additional external software applications and moving content between
them.
