SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- GSN, the network for games,
is venturing further into the hidden camera genre with VEGAS WEDDINGS
UNVEILED, a half-hour semi-documentary style show debuting on Friday, June 18
at 10 PM ET/PT. Hosted by Darva Conger of "Who Wants to Marry a
Multi-Millionaire?" fame, the series will infiltrate real-life Vegas wedding
chapels, wedding limos and marriage "Hot Spots" to reveal the spontaneous
atmosphere of weddings in the gaming capital of the world. From the
pre-planned elaborate weddings to the more impromptu Vegas chapel wedding, the
show will feature real-life couples from all over the country saying "I Do."
The announcement was made today by Rich Cronin, President and Chief Executive
Officer of GSN.
"In light of famous impromptu weddings, we were eager to branch out into
this genre and feel like this is a fresh take on a very beloved tradition,"
said Rich Cronin, President & CEO, GSN. "We have captured some priceless
moments with serious nuptials occurring in very unconventional methods such as
dressing as Star Trek characters and Elvis too."
Cronin adds: "In addition, we played on the inherent tension of the
couples by manufacturing some difficult situations to see how they would
react. The results range from mind-boggling to hilarious."
"GSN is the perfect home for this fresh style of reality programming,"
said Rob Lobl, co-founder of SokoLobl Entertainment. "We're very excited to
be in business with GSN and hope to bring their audience an outrageous show
with all the high stakes, humor and unpredictability of marriage in Vegas."
"I am very excited about this project and opportunity to serve as host of
my own show," said Conger. "I feel that it is a great way to make a negative
experience into something positive and fruitful."
As host of VEGAS WEDDINGS UNVEILED, Conger will narrate introductions to
each of the segments and offer commentary on elaborate weddings in Las Vegas.
VEGAS WEDDINGS UNVEILED follows couples as they get married in the
"wedding capital of the world" -- a city where all you need to get married is
a willing partner (sobriety not required), a marriage license ($55, cash
only), and a gaudy Chapel with an even gaudier Chaplain (it comes with the
territory).
The series will include hidden camera segments at various chapels,
behind-the-scenes coverage of couples preparing for such themed nuptials as
Star Trek or Roman weddings and interviews with Vegas locals including people
involved with chapel wars to limousine and taxi drivers who uncover some of
the most outrageous post-ceremony stories.
After appearing on "Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire," Conger became
a household name as the "runaway bride" on one of the first and most
controversial reality programs. She has posed for Playboy Magazine and
appeared on the covers of several magazines, as well as appeared on such
television shows as "Dog Eat Dog," Celebrity Boxing," and GSN's NATIONAL
LAMPOON'S FUNNY MONEY. When not busy as host of the show, Conger is working
in a Southern California hospital's emergency department as a registered
nurse. She is married to a paramedic.
Sam Sokolow and Rob Lobl of SokoLobl Entertainment are the creators and
executive producers of this six-episode series.
SokoLobl Entertainment, known for creating and producing over 100 episodes
of MTV's hit dating show Taildaters, as well as producing TV's first daily
