BURLINGTON, Mass., May 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The DirecNet(TM) Task Force,
an alliance of recognized leaders in the development of military
communications systems, today announced the addition of three new corporate
members to its multi-vendor organization. Effective immediately, Raytheon
Company has joined DirecNet as a Principal member while AAI Corporation and
ViaSat, Inc. have joined as Associate-level members.
Formed in July 2006 by nine leading military communications systems
companies, the DirecNet Task Force is working to develop an open standard
to enable highly mobile, directional, high data rate, ad hoc communications
networks. Founding members include: BAE Systems; Boeing; Cubic Defense
Applications; Harris; ITT Corporation; Innovative Concepts; L-3
Communications; Northrop Grumman; and Rockwell Collins. DirecNet operates
under the auspices of The Open Group, a vendor- and technology-neutral
consortium focused on open standards and global interoperability.
