BURLINGTON, Mass., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The DirecNet Task Force, an
alliance of recognized leaders in the development of military
communications systems, today announced the appointment of Prof.
Christopher Gunderson to the DirecNet Board of Advisors. Currently at the
Naval Post Graduate School as a research associate professor of Information
Science, Prof. Gunderson is on a special assignment sponsored by the
Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test
Command (JITC) to establish a Netcentric Certification Office (NCO).
"The members of the DirecNet Task Force recognize the value in teaming
up for their mutual benefit and for the benefit of their common customer,
the U.S. Government," said Prof. Gunderson, advisor, DirecNet Task Force.
"Great pains have been taken to involve both their operational customers
and the interoperability certification authorities from the very first days
of the project. All in all, DirecNet is a true example of the kind of
pragmatic, forward-thinking industry partnership the Dept. of Defense needs
to achieve its vision of an adaptive, integrated, information-centric
force."
Before taking to Netcentric Certification Office project, Prof.
Gunderson managed an initiative sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of
Defense to create the World Wide Consortium for the Grid (W2COG), a global
network of collaborative experts committed to rapidly fielding network
centric tools for enhancing global security and peaceful commerce.
Gunderson retired from the U.S. Navy in October 2004 as a Captain following
27 years of service.
