College and Student organizations to benefit from financial support
NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the Jenzabar Foundation
publicly announced its new organization that will support student-led
humanitarian community service projects around the world. The mission of
the Jenzabar Foundation is to recognize and support the good works and
humanitarian efforts of student leaders serving others across the global
community. The Foundation seeks to foster a culture of service and to
educate and inspire future generations to create a better world.
"We see The Foundation providing a 'triple win' for the education
community," said Robert A. Maginn Jr., Chairman of the Jenzabar Foundation
and CEO and Chairman of the Board of Jenzabar, Inc. "Many student projects
cannot move forward without financial backing; without the selfless energy,
enthusiasm and creativity of young people, many of the beneficiaries of
their work would not be reached; and colleges and universities benefit from
the affinity built through the students' connection to their club or
activity. This focus supports what we call 'ERA' -- enrollment, retention
and advancement."
Maginn made the announcement at the annual meeting of Jenzabar, Inc.
where more than 1,400 college and university administrators gathered to
learn about the latest developments at Jenzabar and to hear about The
Foundation's new grant program.
Jenzabar, Inc. established a grant program in 2006, and issued nearly
250 grants in 2007 to institutions of higher education in support of
service-based student activities, and to non-profit organizations involved
in education and social welfare. The Jenzabar Foundation has emerged out of
this history of corporate giving and a deep sense of community support and
philanthropy imparted through the company's founders and executive
management.
The Jenzabar Foundation will actively reach out to colleges and
universities to find and fund projects that best exemplify the mission of
the Foundation and the values of service and cultural exchange that it
supports. In addition, student groups are encouraged to apply for the
grants through their institutions. The Foundation also will provide grants
to other non-profit organizations that have similarly aligned missions.
In addition to financial support, the Jenzabar Foundation aims to
promote the activities of grant recipients and resultant goodwill that is
generated through their work by providing interactive Web platforms and the
latest technology to showcase student projects to the world, including
personal stories and video clips, social networking and other means of
online communications.
"We are proud to be a partner in financing projects that profoundly
change the lives of students as well as those whom they are helping," said
Ling Chai, Chairman of the Board of Advisors for the Jenzabar Foundation
and President and COO of Jenzabar, Inc. "We want to raise awareness
worldwide about these student leaders and showcase their good works," said
Chai.
Past recipients of The Jenzabar Foundation grants include the St.
Thomas More College Jamaica Service Learning Project, Union College,
Wheelock College's Passion for Action Program, Harvard China Care, Keuka
College, Avila University, OneHen.org and the One Family Foundation.
The amount of grants to student groups will be determined on an
individual basis. Criteria and application information may be found on the
