Fuego and Proforma to Develop Robust, Standards-Based Interface Between BPA
and BPM
PLANO, Texas, June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Fuego(R), the leading provider of
agile business process management (BPM) solutions, today announced its
participation in a consortium formed by Proforma Corporation, extending the
strategic partnership formed between the two companies in June of 2003. The
primary goal of the consortium is to enable the timely, low-cost development
of robust, point-to-point, round-trip interfaces communicating ProVision (BPA)
process semantics to business process management software like FuegoBPM(TM).
As part of the interface development, formal extensions to the ProVision
semantics will be defined, as well as unparsed partner-specific data with
consideration for standards such BPEL, xPDL, BPMN. The specification will
enable round-trip communications between the technologies.
"Many Fuego customers use ProVision for their Business Process Analysis
needs," said Rick Mattock, vice president of product strategy, Fuego. "The
common interchange format now makes it even easier for FuegoBPM to take the
ProVision models and make them executable, as well as deliver roundtrip
results in a standard format."
FuegoBPM Suite is an advanced software platform that enables companies to
easily and rapidly achieve the promised benefits of a service-oriented
architecture (SOA). Customers can model their business processes, define key
performance indicators (KPIs), simulate them, connect those processes to
people and systems, run them, manage process exceptions and measure, monitor
and optimize their effectiveness, at a fraction of the time, effort and cost
of other solutions.
"Our customers expect interoperability between BPA and BPM and are
demanding effective collaboration," said Jerry Huchzermeier, Proforma's chief
technical officer. "Proforma's proven modeling technology, leveraged by a
best-of-breed solution like FuegoBPM, will enable enterprises to manage
effective and comprehensive BPM programs that link their portfolio of
detailed, optimized business processes with the technical workflow systems
that implement them."
Proforma recently introduced ProVision BPMx, the latest addition to the
ProVision modeling suite. ProVision BPMx enables organizations to perform
comprehensive, goal-directed business process modeling and analysis functions
that are critical for business process improvement and BPM success. It is
comprised of modeling and analysis components to address: process motivation,
process participation, process design and workflow, process simulation and
analysis, and robust BPEL and XML-based interfaces that allow organizations to
seamlessly collaborate with BPM solutions.
While Proforma currently supports a one-way interface to FuegoBPM, the
Common Interface Format, tagged "CIF", will be designed to carry all ProVision
model information, enabling Fuego to capture even more business parameters for
execution. A 'generic' XML stream payload will house the Fuego specific
parameters to maintain their purity on the round trip back to ProVision. CIF
will be easily extended and embedded in other standards or specifications.
"One of the value propositions Fuego delivers is the ability to leverage
and extend existing technology investments," said Jon Lauck, president and
CEO, Fuego. "By participating in the development of the Common Interface
Format, Fuego can ensure that our customers and prospects realize return on
their investment in Fuego and ProVision throughout the entire business process
development lifecycle."
