New SeeMyPetCam.com and PetCam Allow Owners to Video and Watch Their Pets
from PCs, Mobile Phones
SECAUCUS, N.J., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic today announced the
launch of SeeMyPetCam.com - an online community and resource for pet lovers
to share and watch their "furry friend" videos, communicate with other
animal lovers, and view pet articles, advice and even animals available for
adoption. According to the 2007-2008 National Pet Owners Survey, more than
63 percent of U.S. households own a pet, and Panasonic highlights "PetCam"
as an application available on its network cameras, allowing consumers to
monitor their pets from a computer or mobile phone.
"Pets always have been an important part of the family, and Panasonic
recognizes that this community could benefit from products and services
that fit their lifestyles and needs," said Bill Taylor, Panasonic Consumer
Electronics Company, Vice President, Communications Solutions Group. "We
want pet owners to know there are technologies available from Panasonic
that will provide peace of mind when they are away from their homes. And by
combining Panasonic's network camera and SeeMyPetCam.com, we offer the
perfect solution for the pet community to share and preserve these precious
moments."
When visiting SeeMyPetCam.com, pet enthusiasts can upload their pet
videos for the world to enjoy and each month one clip will be featured on
the homepage. Also available on SeeMyPetCam.com is a live video feed to
animals available for adoption at Common Sense for Animals, a no-kill
shelter in New Jersey. The live video also is available at
http://www.commonsenseforanimals.org, a result of Panasonic installing network
cameras and putting the PetCam application into action. Panasonic also will
be giving a grant to Common Sense for Animals to support the shelter and
its mission to find pets homes where they will have the potential to become
a friend and companion to a loving family.
"We're thrilled by Panasonic's generosity to donate their PetCams,
because seeing is believing - and with the help of live video, potential
pet adopters can view the animals needing a loving family, all before even
making a trip to the shelter,"" said Dr. Robert Blease, President of Common
Sense for Animals and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. "Also, PetCam is a
much-needed tool for observing animals at home, when they are not being
influenced by human activity. This type of video is extremely valuable for
owners and animal professionals to learn what changes may need to be made
to encourage positive animal behavior."
For pet owners who wonder what their animals do when they are not home,
Panasonic's network cameras are ideal for pet watching and sharing.
Panasonic's network cameras have a PetCam application, perfect for users
who care about their pets' safety, or just want to capture those
entertaining moments when their pet doesn't know anyone is watching.
Panasonic is highlighting PetCam in four network cameras models, the BL-C1,
BL-C20, BL-C111 and the BL-C131 - all which are packed with features ideal
for viewing pets either from a computer with Internet access or even from a
mobile phone - as each camera comes with a free, permanent Web address.
The BL-C1 (wired) and BL-C20 (wireless) can be operated by remote
control and features a 10x digital zoom function for clear, enlarged
viewing of one's pet. These models also have the capacity to store up to
250 images in their internal memory and include color night view mode,
motion detection, image transfer and a recording program to view the pet's
natural motion. The BL- C111 (wired) and BL-C131 (wireless) have built-in
microphones which allow users to listen to their pets through a PC. These
network cameras also can be operated by remote control and feature a 10x
digital zoom function, motion detection sensor and image transfer - all
perfect for capturing the pet's every move. Panasonic network cameras are
currently available at http://www.panasonic.com and http://www.amazon.com and have the
following retail prices: BL- C1 for $99.95, BL-C20 for $199.95, BL-C111 for
