Winner to receive Timberland(R) gear and a $5,000 cash prize to support
their eco-actions
STRATHAM, N.H., June 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Do you enjoy the
virtues of public transportation rather than driving a Hummer to work
everyday? Do you turn off the tap water when brushing your teeth rather
than let it run while you stare in the mirror? Believe it or not, those
eco-conscious choices make you an Earthkeeper. If you'd like to join a
"movement" of people like you who care about the environment, all you have
to do is make a compelling video of your eco-friendly actions and submit it
to http://www.earthkeeper.com/youtube by July 26. If you do, you could win some
really cool Earthkeeper(TM) products. And, if you qualify for the grand
prize, you could also win up to $5,000 for your own environmental cause.
But that's not all! As part of the grand prize you could be featured in a
2009 Timberland Earthkeeper advertising campaign.
"The 'Be An Earthkeeper Hero' video contest is the perfect platform for
environmentally engaged individuals to use the power of YouTube videos to
showcase their efforts and commitments to environmental stewardship," said
Margaret Morey-Reuner, Timberland's Senior Manager of Values Marketing.
"Whether it's humorous, informative or truly motivating, one video can
inspire a thousand positive actions on behalf of the environment, and
that's what Earthkeepers is all about."
How to Be an Earthkeepers Hero:
Following are three easy steps you can take to become an Earthkeeper
and win a prize for your video:
1. Download the Earthkeepers Hero video kit at
http://www.earthkeeper.com/logo. Please keep your video under three minutes
and submit by July 26, 2008.
2. Use the official Earthkeepers logo somewhere in your video.
3. Base your eco-video concept on humor, unique Earthkeeping ideas or a
message that really motivates and engages.
Calling all Earthkeepers Prizing:
-- One Earthkeeper will win a Grand Prize of $5,000 cash for their
movement or cause and $500 worth of Timberland(R) gear. It also includes
one full year to get a personal message out as an Earthkeepers Hero on the
Earthkeepers online network including YouTube, Facebook, Earthkeeper.com
and Timberland.com. Additionally, the winner may receive a featured spot in
a Timberland ad next Spring.
-- Three Earthkeepers will each win First Prizes of $300 worth of
Timberland(R) gear. One winner will be selected for each of the three video

motivating/engaging).
In order to be eligible to win the Grand Prize, entrants will have to
create a movement by showcasing their Earthkeepers video using
Changents.com -- an entire site dedicated to connecting social and
environmental "agents of change" with people who want to support them. The
top 10 entrants with the most backing on
http://www.changents.com/earthkeepers will be declared the Grand Prize
finalists. Their videos will be the ones voted on by the YouTube community
(from September 2-14, 2008). The video receiving the most votes will win
the Grand Prize.
The winners will be announced the week of September 15, 2008. Official
contest rules are available at http://www.earthkeeper.com/rules.
