Names Dr. Stuart Seale Medical Director
SEDONA, Ariz., July 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifestyle Center of America (LCA)
announced today that they are expanding their programs to include a 12-day
"stopping diabetes" program in Sedona, Arizona.
Established in 1996, LCA is a division of the Ardmore Institute of
Health (AIH) headquartered in Sulphur, Oklahoma, and is a non-profit
501(c)(3) corporation with a health education charter. LCA specializes in
medically supervised lifestyle intervention programs, focusing particularly
on diabetes, and has successfully stopped and reversed the progression of
diabetes in thousands of patients.
Stuart A. Seale, M.D., ABFP, will serve as Medical Director, Lifestyle
Educator, and Staff Physician. The staff also includes certified
professionals in diabetic education, cognitive behavioral therapy, exercise
science, and nutrition. Sid Lloyd, President and CEO of AIH, will oversee
the program's administration.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not properly produce or
does not properly use insulin, leading to abnormally high blood sugar which
causes microvascular and macrovascular damage. The fifth leading cause of
death, it has become epidemic in America, affecting more than 20 million
people. Diabetes is insidious in that it causes damage before being
diagnosed and, if uninterrupted, leads to complications including
blindness, neuropathy, amputations, renal disease, and coronary heart
disease.
"The only good thing about diabetes," says Dr. Seale, "is that it
usually responds quickly to lifestyle intervention. By removing a person
from their daily routine and then working closely with them on nutrition,
physical activity, and cognitive behavior for just 12 days, we're able to
show rapid improvements in every pertinent measurement, including fasting
blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, resting heart rate, flexibility,
and body weight. Typically, we're able to do this while also reducing their
medications. This gives our guests the confidence to go home and apply what
they've learned so they can continue restoring themselves to good health."
Those attending the medical retreat will stay in beautiful
accommodations at the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa where they will also
attend classes, enjoy chef-prepared cuisine and cooking demonstrations,
participate in group medical and behavioral therapy sessions, and have the
use of the spa facility and spa treatments. SedonaFit will provide workout
facilities and fitness evaluations.
"Sedona was chosen as our first partner location for several reasons,"
said Lloyd. "The obvious one is its beauty. We also took into consideration
its growing reputation for wellness and its complement of medical
professionals, including Dr. Seale who was in private practice for more
than 20 years and who is an expert in treating metabolic syndrome, type 2
diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, and high blood
pressure. We evaluated several venues in the Sedona area and selected
Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa due to their facilities, locations, and
outstanding dedication to customer service."
