TOKYO, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ --
Student events have been expanded for the purpose of training future
technicians.
Theme: "Mono-zukuri Innovation"
Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association (located in Tokyo's Minato-ku,
Chairman: Kenichi Nakamura), along with Tokyo Big Sight Inc. (located in
Tokyo's Koto-ku, President: Katsuumi Namikoshi) will hold the eight day
long JIMTOF2006 (23rd Japan International Machine Tool Fair) at the Tokyo
International Exhibition Center "Tokyo Big Sight" (3-21-1 Ariake, Koto-ku,
Tokyo). The event will take place from Wednesday, November 1, 2006 to
Wednesday, November 8, 2006.
JIMTOF, whose object is to exhibit machine tools and various related
machines, equipment and information, is a trade fair widely recognized and
attended by all manufacturers in Japan, the world's largest producer of
machine tools in the world.
The fair features state-of-the-art manufacturing process technology on
a grand scale at Japan's largest exhibition hall, Tokyo Big Sight, which
provides over 82,660 square meters of indoor exhibit space. The fair
attracts attention and garners high appraisal not only from people working
in Japanese industry but from attendees from all over the world.
JIMTOF2006 will reflect favorable conditions in the machine tool
industry, with the number of this year's applicants substantially exceeding
the maximum capacity for the venue. As a result of the overwhelming number
of applications, 547 companies and groups have been selected to take part
in the event, the largest number ever, with an increase of the scale from
45,333 square meter in 2004 to 46,359 square meter for the 2006 event, as
of July 31, 2006. In addition, attendance is expected to increase to
130,000 people, up from 123,000 in 2004. * These numbers are excluding
attendees who entered the fair multiple days.
The theme for JIMTOF2006 is "Mono-zukuri Innovation". The existence of
production goods such as machine tools, which support the entire base of
the production industry, is required for especially high standards of
precision and performance, and the pressing tasks for the industry are
training people to have unshakeable beliefs and flexible conceptions toward
product creation, and transmitting technical skills backed by definite
expert knowledge and abundant practice.
JIMTOF2006 will not only feature product exhibits, but also seminars
and lectures for all levels, exhibits designed especially for the younger
generation, and tours of factories, all for the purpose of arousing and
raising the interest of the younger generation. The aim of these activities
is to make this year's JIMTOF the most successful ever.
