Launched May 14, 2007, the Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET(R) retail arm now has
more than 50,000 registered web site users, eight shopping mall locations,
and nearly $12 million in revenue
MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Siegal's Direct Nutritionals,
LLC, the exclusive global distributor of Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET(R)
hunger- controlling foods, today announced that it has registered the
50,000th user on its e-commerce web site, CookieDiet.com. The web site was
launched on May 14, 2007.
"This is an important milestone and a testament to the fact that Dr.
Siegal's COOKIE DIET(R) products do exactly what they claim to do: control
your hunger so you can stick to your diet," said Dr. Siegal's son, Matthew
Siegal, president and CEO of DSDN. "In just fifteen months, and with no
outside investment, we've built a company with nearly $12 million in
revenue, eight retail locations, 50,000 registered web site users, and more
than 100 retail and professional resellers."
Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET(R) was created in 1975 by renowned physician,
author, and weight loss expert Sanford Siegal, D.O., M.D., in order to
control his patients' hunger and enable them to faithfully adhere to the
800 calorie-a-day diet that he prescribes in his South Florida medical
practice, Siegal Medical Group (http://www.DrSiegal.com). Since 1975, more than
500,000 of Dr. Siegal's own patients, and those of 200 other physicians he
has supplied, have lost weight with the help of his hunger-suppressing
foods.
The hunger-controlling quality of Dr. Siegal's cookies, shake mixes,
and soup comes from his secret blend of amino acids and the process he uses
to make it. As he has done for thirty-three years, Dr. Siegal personally
mixes every batch of his proprietary protein formula with his own hands in
his private bakery near his Miami medical clinic. The formula is known only
to Dr. Siegal and his wife who usually accompanies him to the bakery for
the three or four hour formula-mixing sessions.
For most of its thirty-three year history, Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET(R)
was available only to patients of Dr. Siegal and other physicians. In 2007,
however, Dr. Siegal and his son, Matthew, a former technology entrepreneur
who co-founded two companies that now comprise publicly-traded software
company Vocus, Inc., formed Dr. Siegal's Direct Nutritionals, LLC and took
the doctor's famous cookies to the general public via CookieDiet.com. A few
months later, the company opened its first shopping mall location near
Philadelphia. The company now operates eight mall locations in Arizona,
Florida, Virginia, and New Jersey. The first storefront location will open
soon near Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.
This week, CookieDiet.com added to its online store VITAZEST(R) Water
Brand Green Tea, the first third-party product to be certified as 100%
compatible with Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET(R).
Dr. Siegal, his books, and his famous cookie-based diet are perpetually
in the news. Recent profiles have been broadcast/printed by NBC's Today
Show, The FOX Morning Show with Mike & Juliet, CBS' The Early Show, and The
Washington Post. This morning, an interview with Dr. Siegal and a young
woman who has lost half her body weight with Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET(R)
cookies and the supervision of her family doctor, was broadcast during a
segment of Health Talk w/ Dr. Manny on the national FOX News program, Fox &
Friends. A video is posted on FoxNews.com at
