Air Force Generals to Highlight Need for Cyberspace Focus

The Air Force Association today announced that the Eaker Institute, the
public policy and research arm of the AFA and the affiliated Aerospace
Education Foundation (AEF), will release a study tentatively titled
"Cyberspace: The Airman's Domain."
The Oct. 9 press conference at the National Press Club will include
Gen. John Jumper (ret.), Lt. Gen. Robert Elder, and Lt. Gen. John Baker
(ret.):
-- Gen. Jumper (ret.) served as Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
-- Lt. Gen. Elder commands the Air Force headquarters for cyberspace,
global strike and network operations, including the establishment
of a new Cyber Command.
-- Lt. Gen. Baker (ret.) served as Vice Commander, Air Mobility Command.
His Air Force service began in 1972.
The study was commissioned by AFA and authored by Dr. Rebecca Grant,
President of IRIS Independent Research. Dr. Grant is an Eaker Institute
fellow; a contributing editor of Air Force Magazine, produced by the AFA;
and has worked for RAND, as well as the former Secretary of the Air Force
and the former Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
Web-based technologies and communications play an ever-expanding role
in our economic and military security. This in-depth report by the Eaker
Institute examines the threats and opportunities this presents and the
crucial role of the United States Air Force and the developing Cyber
Command.
