In his new position, Law will be responsible for R/GA's overall
creative vision as the company develops a new agency model focused on rich,
transformative brand experiences and efficient digital production.
"The advertising and marketing landscape has become so diverse,
agencies need to constantly redefine their creative thinking," said Law.
"The days of a creative leader proclaiming a narrow doctrine from on high
are over. My job as CCO is to help focus the healthy chaos that is a
by-product of this new environment, and to make sure we have the best
people collaborating across all disciplines."
Greenberg praised Law for contributing to the company's success
especially in light of strong competition and rapid industry change.
"R/GA's scope of work and client roster are evolving quickly, and we
needed someone with Nick's diverse and exceptional background to ensure
success for our clients and R/GA," Greenberg added. "His innate ability to
lead and motivate teams, and to push the creative envelope on behalf of our
clients, made Nick a natural choice."
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Law will guide creative teams consisting of visual designers,
copywriters, and interaction designers. To ensure that R/GA stays true to
its legacy of creative excellence and innovation, he will also work closely
with the agency's growing strategic services group-to align the creative
process with research insights and media planning-and with its renowned
technology department.
"For 25 years R/GA has been a place where technology innovators have
been creative and creatives have been innovative. There is an expectation
that transformative ideas can come from anywhere," said Law. "This broad
creative culture helps R/GA generate engaging ideas in a world where
technology is continuously changing consumer behavior."
Since 2001 Law has played a significant role in shaping R/GA's creative
vision. During this time, his work has won several international awards and
has been widely published in the United States, the United Kingdom, and
Australia. Within a year of joining the company, he was promoted to vice
president of visual design, and shortly afterward was named executive
creative director on the agency's Nike account. Over the past year, Law has
also been instrumental in establishing a new brand identity for R/GA
throughout the company's online and offline communications.
Global Experience
Law brings to the position of chief creative officer nearly 20 years of
experience in marketing, advertising, and design, including stints at
agencies in the United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. His range of
experience will be an important asset for R/GA as the agency takes on more
global assignments requiring the integration of channels, formats,
languages, and cultures.
Prior to joining R/GA, Law worked as creative director at FGI, where he
was responsible for the agency's creative vision, direct advertising,
design, and interactive projects for a variety of clients. Law also worked
at D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles (DMB&B) in London, where his global
accounts included Arthur Anderson, West Merchant Bank, and the Montreux
International Television Symposium.
Law developed his design sensibility while working at various branding
agencies. Before FGI, Nick was a senior designer at Diefenbach Elkins (now
FutureBrand) in New York, the international corporate-identity design firm.
He also worked for Pentagram in London, under the guidance of the legendary
Alan Fletcher and John McConnell. Law helped develop and implement
corporate identities for clients such as Clarks Shoes, the Tokyo Metropolis
Government Office, and Eastman Kodak.
