Lions Gate Films and AMC Entertainment Inc. Team up for Exclusive
Digital Release of 'The Final Cut' on October 15
SANTA MONICA, Calif. and KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Lions Gate Films, a division of Lions Gate Entertainment
(NYSE: LGF; Toronto), and AMC Theatres, a subsidiary of AMC Entertainment Inc.
(Amex: AEN) have teamed up for the first-ever exclusive agreement between a
distributor and an exhibitor for the wide release of a film via digital
technology.
"The Final Cut," starring Robin Williams, Mira Sorvino and Jim Caviezel,
will be released exclusively to AMC Theatres, opening October 15 in
approximately 115 AMC theatres in 27 markets. AMC will present the film
digitally, using AMC's proprietary Digital Theatre Distribution System (DTDS).
The digital file of the movie will be distributed to AMC theatre locations via
satellite.

Written and directed by Omar Naim, "The Final Cut" is set in a world where
"Zoe Chips" are placed in the brain at birth to record one's entire life,
providing footage which is edited into a "Rememory" -- a film shown at your
funeral. Alan Hackman (Williams) is the best editor -- or "cutter" -- in the
business, whose ability to grant the absolution of corrupt clients' sins has
put him in high demand. However, his talent for viewing life without emotion
has made him a cold and distant man, unable to experience life in the first
person. While cutting a "Rememory," Alan discovers a haunting image that
sends him on an intense search for truth and redemption.
Naim recently won the prestigious Screenwriting Award at the 30th Annual
Deauville Festival of American Film for his work on this movie.
