PLAINFIELD, Ill., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Illinois House Republican Leader
Tom Cross announced the launch of a series of public policy games entitled
"Take Back Illinois" today in Plainfield, IL.
The game is located at http://www.takebackillinoisgame.com .
This online public policy strategy game is a breakthrough game where
players will explore complex policy issues such as: Medical Malpractice
Reform, Education Reform, Citizen Participation, and Economic Reform. The
depth of the games mirror the complexity of these important local issues and
are meant to inform players and assist in understanding the issues that drive
local politics in the State of Illinois.
Dr. Ian Bogost, Game Designer and Partner at Persuasive Games, said,
"Policy issues are complex and interrelated, but the mass media often give
voters only small inroads into exploring their opinions about specific issues.
Games can represent issues with more nuance. With 'Take Back Illinois,' Tom
Cross and the Illinois GOP have made a huge step in raising the bar for
political engagement."
"Take Back Illinois" is an integrated multi-part game which challenges
players to play through important Illinois issues such as Medical Malpractice
Reform, Education Reform, Citizen Participation, and Economic Reform.
"We realize that a crucial part of public policy and politics is engaging
people in a narrative about our issues and candidates," said Cross. "We've
been extremely aggressive with our outreach online. We feel that there is a
huge growth potential to reach out to undecided voters and educate them on
what the House Republicans are attempting to accomplish in Springfield."
One game will launch each week beginning two weeks ago and continuing
until the last game is launched next Wednesday. These are the first online
strategy games ever launched for local political issues. The game highlights
the policies put forth by Cross and the House GOP Caucus including the "Code
Blue" Medical Malpractice Relief Package and "Destination: Illinois Jobs"
economic development package.
"This game will allow voters to be engaged in our policies and see how
destructive the Chicago Democrats have been on our common-sense agenda and our
approach to Illinois' problems," said Cross.
"Take Back Illinois" features Cross as well as the 8 Candidates that are
running in targeted districts across Illinois.
Cross has also launched a voter outreach site at
http://www.joincross.com , a tv station at http://www.joincross.tv , and an
audioblog at http://www.joincrossvoicemail.com .
