Travelers can Simply "Tap & Go(TM)" to Make Purchases at the Faber, Coe
and Gregg Family of Brands
PURCHASE, N.Y., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- MasterCard Worldwide announced
today that Faber, Coe & Gregg (Faber), a leader in the travel and
hospitality industry, expects to accept MasterCard(R) PayPass(TM)
contactless payment transactions in 2009 at its more than 80 food & retail
store locations. Customers who visit Faber stores can use their MasterCard
PayPass card or device to simply "Tap & Go" to pay for everyday items,
enabling them to make purchases quickly and conveniently. By accepting
MasterCard PayPass, the company will offer the millions of travelers it
serves each year quicker transactions and greater payment convenience to
enhance the overall travel shopping experience.
"Our customers are always on the go, and MasterCard PayPass provides an
even faster way to pay at airports, train stations, interstate highways,
and hotel food & retail locations, where speed and convenience are
paramount," said Burton Friedman, chief financial officer, Faber.
"Expanding our payment options to include MasterCard PayPass is an
extension of our commitment at Faber to provide our customers with the most
valuable and convenient shopping and travel experience."
With PayPass technology, Faber customers can simply tap their
PayPass-enabled MasterCard card or device on a PayPass reader at check-out,
eliminating the need to hand their card over to a cashier or fumble for
cash. MasterCard PayPass also does not require customers to sign receipts
for purchases under $25, further speeding up the transaction.
"MasterCard PayPass is a perfect fit for food and retail establishments
located in transit hubs because it allows customers to quickly make their
purchases and be on their way, instead of waiting in long lines," said
Denis Bouchard, group head, U.S. Merchant Product Sales. "PayPass is
becoming the preferred way to pay for consumers who are on the move,
whether they are riding in a taxi, boarding a subway or rushing through an
airport."
Faber operates nationally-recognized retail brands in airports, train
stations, highway rest stops and hotels on the east coast of the U.S. They
will accept MasterCard PayPass, in addition to traditional magnetic-stripe
payment cards, at all of the check-out counters of their food and retail
stores. The Faber family of brands includes a wide variety of national
retail brands, newsstands, and cafe shops, such as Hugo Boss, Cubavera,
Diamond Fire, Taxco, L'Occitane, Faber News Now, Dunkin Donuts, Java Moon,
Cuban Coffee, Seattle's Best Coffee, Wetzels Pretzels, Pizzeria Uno
Express, and Sandella's Flatbread Cafe.
MasterCard PayPass is currently accepted within several retail sectors
where speed and convenience are critical factors, such as quick-service
restaurants, sports stadiums and arenas, movie theaters, supermarkets,
vending machines, and taxis.
