Summit Explores Strategies that Will Shape the Next Wave of E-Commerce
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Leading
e-commerce solutions provider GSI Commerce Inc. (Nasdaq: GSIC) brought
together e-commerce, multichannel and consumer retailing experts to
exchange ideas on e-commerce strategies, best practices and pragmatic
solutions at the 2007 GSI Partner Executive Summit. The annual conference
focuses on emerging e-commerce and online marketing themes and provides a
forum for retail executives and their peers within the GSI community to
explore ways to grow their online and multichannel businesses.
Primary focus areas at this year's summit included the impact of
technology on consumer engagement, embracing multichannel strategies,
improving customer experience through advanced Web site design, and
strategies for driving incremental revenue. Attendees included executives
from GSI's partner companies, spanning more than 13 retail categories.
The kick-off keynote speaker was renowned author and digital media
expert Jeffrey Rayport, Ph.D., who discussed the intersection of retail and
technology and presented solutions for deepening consumer engagement in the
evolving digital frontier. Additional keynote speakers were Anthony Noto of
Goldman Sachs, who shared his thoughts on the key components that drive
e-commerce success; Sucharita Mulpuru of Forrester Research, who presented
insights into how retailers can influence the future of e-commerce by
incorporating core but critical improvements to their Web stores; and Pat
Croce, best-selling author and entrepreneur who reminded the audience of
the importance of doing right by your customers.
"GSI's goal with this summit is twofold: first, to keep our partners
informed of emerging e-commerce trends and innovative solutions, and
second, to harness their collective e-commerce and retail expertise and use
that insight for continuous growth for all partners across our GSI
network," said Michael G. Rubin, GSI chairman and CEO. "With a current base
of more than 80 partners, GSI manages a meaningful segment of the
e-commerce space. For example, during the 2007 peak season we are
forecasting a peak-order volume of 350 orders per minute and 120 million
peak-day page views. By engaging in both day-to-day and broad strategic
dialog with our partners and industry thought leaders, we will continue to
ensure we deliver great experiences for our partners and their customers."
