WASHINGTON, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. General Services
Administration's (GSA) Office of Governmentwide Policy recognizes nine
creative and original ideas in its recent announcement of the 10th annual
Real Property Innovation Award winners.
"Throughout the ten years of the Real Property Innovation Awards
Program, 375 great ideas from the federal real property community have been
generated and shared in the effort to help improve governmentwide
management of real property assets and maximize operations," said GSA
Deputy Administrator, David L. Bibb.
This year's awards program focused on innovation, creativity and
leading practices in federal real property asset management and
sustainability. Fifteen agencies from across the federal sector submitted a
total 37 entries that covered a broad range of real property areas,
technical specialties, and geographic locations. An independent panel of
real property professionals representing the public and private sector
reviewed and evaluated entries in each category.
GSA's Public Buildings Service (PBS), National Capital Region, received
the award in the field of Asset Management for its Automated Advanced
Acquisition Program (AAAP). The competition's second award, in the field of
Sustainability, went to PBS, Rocky Mountain Region, for its Denver Federal
Center Environmental Management System - Framework for a Sustainable Campus
entry. This is the first time in the program's 10-year history that GSA's
entries were selected as winners in both categories.
A complete list of 2006 award finalists, special achievement honorees,
and details of all innovation entries are in a special edition of the
Office of Governmentwide Policy's Policysite newsletter and posted on the
OGP web site located at http://www.gsa.gov/realpropertypolicy.
GSA is a centralized, federal procurement, property management, policy
development and information provision agency, created by Congress to
improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the
public. In this role, GSA acquires products and services on behalf of
federal agencies; plays a key role in developing and implementing
government-wide policies; provides services and solutions for the office
operations of more than one million federal workers; and encourages a
citizen-centric relationship with government by providing a single "point
of entry" to the information and services citizens need in a timeframe they
can appreciate. This allows citizens to receive accurate, timely and
consistent answers and information, and helps federal agencies better
respond to citizen inquiries.
