226 Locations in Colorado Now Offer the New 'Cingular Experience' - Featuring
the Largest Mobile-to-Mobile Calling and Largest Digital Voice and Data
Network
DENVER, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- It's a new day for wireless consumers in
Colorado!
Just three weeks after joining forces to become the biggest wireless
carrier in the U.S., Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless have -- overnight
-- truly become one company.
Following an after-hours makeover of 226 former AT&T Wireless locations,
the company has officially launched the "new" Cingular in Colorado and
throughout the U.S. Today, all customers will get the same "Cingular
Experience" at any of the more than 135,000 retail locations that offer
Cingular products, rate plans and other services throughout the country.
Noteworthy features of the new "Cingular Experience" include:
-- Making more calls in more places on Cingular's ALLOVER(SM) Network, the
largest digital voice and data network in America.
-- Calling 46 million people for free, for those customers already on
Cingular's expanded "mobile-to-mobile" plan and those who choose to add it.
-- Enjoying the features and capabilities of nearly two dozen handsets,
including Cingular's exclusive new Motorola RAZR V3 phone.
"Cingular is thrilled be in Colorado and to be able to build on the
tradition of excellence established here by AT&T Wireless," said Susan Knox,
Vice President and General Manager of Cingular Wireless. "The combination of
these two great companies means it is an exciting new day for wireless
consumers across the state. Consumers will reap the benefits of our products,
rate plans, integrated networks and customer-service capabilities. As promised
in our new advertising slogan, 'Raising the Bar,' Cingular is dramatically
changing wireless for the better."
The Ultimate Makeover
Teams of Cingular employees spent last night converting 19 former AT&T
Wireless company-owned stores and other retail locations across Colorado into
Cingular stores -- one of the largest and fastest "makeovers" in the history
of U.S. retailing.
Each former AT&T Wireless store now has a full inventory of Cingular
phones, accessories and signage. More importantly, employees in Colorado and
throughout the U.S. have completed thousands of hours of training to ensure
that they can provide all visitors to Cingular stores with accurate and
up-to-the-minute information -- the "Cingular Experience."
Last night, while the stores were closed, more than 14,000 employees
across the U.S. worked on the physical transition of the stores being
converted. That included replacing more than 38 million in-store
point-of-purchase materials.
Today, when the "Cingular Experience" became a reality, dedicated teams of
Cingular employees from all departments hit the ground running after having
received more than 2.2 million man-hours of training. Also, more than
56,000 end-to-end tests were conducted to ensure that new account activations
and upgrades will be handled seamlessly.
