Fastest-Growing County in the Nation Selects SAP(R) Software to Enhance
Transparency and Improve Citizen Access to Services
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SAP Public Services, Inc.
today announced that Clark County, home to the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, has
selected mySAP(TM) ERP to enhance process transparency and lay a foundation
for digital government to improve delivery of services for its approximately
1.6 million constituents. With IBM Business Consulting Services, SAP will
deliver an integrated solution to standardize administrative processes
throughout Clark County and facilitate information sharing to build a strong
foundation for citizen service initiatives. Clark County joins neighboring
Washoe County, Nevada, the second largest county in the state, alongside a
growing list of federal, state and local governments that are leveraging
SAP(R) solutions to integrate legacy and other critical data to efficiently
manage accounting, budgeting, funds management, procurement, constituent and
personnel management activities.
Faced with a tight budget, Clark County turned to SAP to identify the
right solutions to help support the growth of the fastest-growing county in
the United States, with 5,000 new residents calling Clark County home each
month. The county chose tools for financial management, human resources,
business intelligence and an enterprise portal as well mySAP(TM) Customer
Relationship Management (mySAP CRM) to enable digital government transactions
that connect citizens and businesses to municipal services 24 hours a day,
seven days a week via an Internet portal.
As the area's principal provider of capital facilities, including
Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, the economic viability of southern
Nevada is tied to Clark County's ability to conduct its fiscal affairs in an
orderly manner. Likewise, to enhance the quality of life for its residents,
the county must successfully address the needs of the community, including
those met by the University Medical Center in providing access to health care;
courts; social services; juvenile programs; and municipal services such as
police, fire, public works and recreational programs. All of the key agencies
in Clark County, including Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Regional Flood and
Transportation and the Clark County Detention Center, will leverage SAP
solutions to integrate and align people, information and processes across
organizational and technological boundaries.
"SAP is bringing to bear its solid public sector expertise and proven
technology to enable Clark County and other state and local governments to
deliver higher-quality services to its constituents and to attain increased
efficiency in its operations," said Steve Peck, president, SAP Public
Services. "SAP and IBM share a commitment to Clark County and all of our
customers: to ensure the success of digital government transformation by
delivering the best practices, services and processes to help public sector
agencies."
IBM will lead the implementation of mySAP ERP with financials, procurement
and HR solutions being implemented in two phases over the next two years, with
expected go-live dates in Clark County of November 2005 for phase one of
financials and procurement and September 2006 for phase two HR and payroll.
