Music Hunters Wanted: Verizon Wireless Today Announced Availability of V CAST Song ID
|
Hear a Hot New Song? Listen, Identify and Buy It -- All with Your Phone,
All Over-the-Air
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Are you a music hunter?
Have you ever been somewhere, heard a song and wondered who the artist is
or the song's name? With Verizon Wireless' exclusive new V CAST Song ID,
you can now hear a song, hold the phone toward the music, watch it capture
a sample of what you're listening to and within seconds V CAST Song ID will
identify the music, and allow you to purchase a matching full-track song,
Ringtone or Ringback tone -- all right over-the-air from your phone.

Customers only need a V CAST Music-enabled phone to start identifying
recorded music playing on the radio, in a club, on the street or from
virtually any music source, then purchase and download the corresponding
true- tone Ringtone, Ringback tone and full-track song from V CAST Music.
Mike Lanman, Verizon Wireless chief marketing officer, said, "Launching
V CAST Song ID is yet another reason why Americans who want the best mobile
music experience are switching to Verizon Wireless. At a time when some of
our competitors won't even allow you to download your music over-the-air,
Verizon Wireless is pushing forward by offering Song ID for free. We'll
help you find the music you love, then make it easy for you to buy."
Unlike other wireless service providers, Verizon Wireless gives
customers a choice on how to buy their mobile music: from the PC or
over-the-air, directly to their phone. Lanman noted that nearly 95 percent
of all full songs bought by V CAST Music customers have been over-the-air.
"Mobile services should provide music lovers with choices on how to buy new
music. When customers have a choice of buying new songs from the PC and
side-loading it to their phone, or to buy music spontaneously over-the-air,
they choose immediacy almost every time. Music lovers want their new songs
now and V CAST Song ID helps make it happen when they don't know the name
or artist of the song."
V CAST Song ID can identify more than four million songs. And whatever
your music tastes include, V CAST Song ID will identify songs from every
genre, from the latest chart toppers to '80s rock classics. When you place
the phone near a music source like a stereo speaker or car radio, and
record a 10-second clip, V CAST Song ID names the artist, song and album
title. After successful recognition, the application will determine if the
song is available as a full-track song, Ringtone or Ringback tone and
directly launch the Verizon Wireless' V CAST Music store where you have the
option to purchase and download the track.
Music hunters can use V CAST Song ID on select V CAST Music-enabled
phones, including Chocolate by LG, The enV by LG, the LG VX8700 and VX9400
and Samsung SCH-u620. V CAST Song ID is available as a free download in the
Music and Tones section of the Get It Now(R) virtual store -- simply go to
Get New Ringtones, Get New Application and select V CAST Song ID. Once
downloaded, you can use the application for free to identify songs while
on-the-go. You can purchase the V CAST Music full-track download for $1.99
per song and get two copies of the song -- one for your phone and the other
for your PC. Verizon Wireless customers who downloaded the previous version
of Song ID to their phones will need to remove that version from their
handsets prior to downloading the free upgraded version of V CAST Song ID.
V CAST Song ID is being heavily supported with broadcast, print and
online advertising, as well as through Verizon Wireless Street Team
promotions.
