Life Insurers Will Meet Next Month in Nation's Capital at ACLI Annual Conference |

John Breaux to Address Conference
WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Leaders of the life insurance
industry will meet in the nation's capital Oct. 9 - 11 at the Omni Shoreham
Hotel for ACLI's 30th annual conference to discuss retirement security, taxes
and regulatory reform.
The meeting -- attended annually by more than 500 life insurance
executives -- is the premier conference for an industry offering financial
protection and retirement security products to millions of Americans.
Ed Zore, President and CEO of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company
and ACLI's chairman, as well as Frank Keating, the Council's President and
CEO, will address the annual conference. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia,
(invited) U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, journalist and author Bob
Woodward, author Pete Peterson, former U.S. Sen. John Breaux, who co-chairs
the presidential tax reform panel, and political analyst Charlie Cook will
address the conference as well. CNN political analyst Bill Press will serve as
master of ceremonies.
Mr. Zore will also pass the ACLI chairmanship to J. Barry Griswell,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Principal Financial Group, during
the meeting.
The conference features two general sessions and more than 20 breakout
sessions where retirement security, taxes and regulatory issues -- both state
and federal -- will be discussed.
Additional topics under consideration include political advocacy, legal
and compliance issues, investment and finance, medical and underwriting, life
insurance products, reinsurance, international issues and anti-money
laundering (detection and reporting).
