DETROIT, MI UNITED STATES
DETROIT, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The magical season being enjoyed by
tens of thousands of Detroit Tigers' fans is also having a positive
financial impact on the Detroit Region. Economic models run by the Detroit
Regional Chamber estimate $73.5 million in additional investment is being
generated in Metro Detroit as fans flock to Comerica Park and flood local
bars and restaurants to watch the games.

"The Tigers' phenomenal victories this year are a big win for the
region, not only in terms of having a baseball team for the community to
rally around but also in the amount of increased economic activity
generated in the local economy," said Richard E. Blouse Jr., CCE, president
and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber.
Hosting the World Series in Motown gives the region an opportunity to
build on its success in hosting the Super Bowl at Ford Field in February
2006. Successfully hosting two major national-championship sporting events
demonstrates how far Detroit's resurgence has come and how beneficial it is
to the region.
There's an intangible benefit too. From across the region people are
coming together to celebrate and enjoy the best our community has to offer.
Many of them are experiencing for the first time the new and exciting
downtown attractions, such as Campus Martius, that are within walking
distance of Comerica Park and Ford Field. This sense of unity promises to
pay even more dividends in the future.
