NEW YORK, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of the scope and depth
of Sidley Austin LLP's global Life Sciences Practice, Practical Law Company
(PLC) recognized 14 lawyers and 9 specialty areas in its Cross-Border Life
Sciences 2006/07 Handbook. Sidley's inter-disciplinary Life Sciences
Practice represents clients in every aspect of the life sciences industry
at every stage of the drug life cycle.
Sidley was recommended in nine Life Sciences specialty areas and
received a leading or a highly recommended ranking, the guide's two highest
distinctions, in five of those areas: Regulatory (EU), Regulatory (U.S.),
Government Enforcement and Investigations (U.S.), Intellectual Property
(U.S.) and Product Liability (U.S.).
Fourteen Sidley lawyers were individually recommended and eight of
those were rated as either leading or highly recommended in their
respective specialty areas. In the EU, Maurits Lugard was ranked in
Regulatory. In the U.S., Scott Bass was ranked in Regulatory; Scott Bass,
Raymond A. Bonner and Paul E. Kalb, M.D. were ranked in Government
Enforcement and Investigations; Thomas H. Beck and David T. Pritikin were
ranked in Intellectual Property; and Michael W. Davis and Debra E. Pole
were ranked in Product Liability.
"Sidley's Life Sciences Practice is renowned as a preeminent source for
strategic legal counsel by pharmaceutical and other life science companies
across the globe. Our distinguished Life Sciences lawyers have navigated
the firm's clients through complex legal and regulatory environments,
allowing the companies to focus on their core disciplines," said Charles W.
Douglas, Chairman of Sidley's Management Committee. "These rankings attest
to the success of our strategy and the skill of our lawyers across the
entire Life Science spectrum."
Practical Law Company is a leading U.K.-based company that provides
services and publishing capabilities to the legal community. The sixth
edition of the PLC Cross-border Life Sciences Handbook is a comprehensive
guide to developments in the life sciences, as well as a listing of
recommended lawyers and law firms in this practice area worldwide.
The Cross-Border Life Sciences 2006/07 Handbook also offers praise to
many of the lawyers. Scott Bass is considered a "highly-rated enforcement
