TOLEDO, Ohio, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Jim Tippin, owner of four car washes
in Toledo, OH, and finalist in the 2004 World Poker Open, and his brother
Jerry, a retired air conditioning expert and retail card shop owner, have
signed a franchise agreement to bring Marco's Pizza, a 27-year old Toledo
based chain, into the Las Vegas area.
Jack Butorac, Jr., president, Marco's Franchising, LLC, announced the
agreement and pending expansion which represents Marco's first growth west of
the Mississippi. The new Marco's franchisee, Tippin Company, JBGB
Enterprises, LLC, plans to open 10 stores in the Las Vegas area.
Jim Tippin, a resident of Toledo who has owned up to four car washes in
Toledo at various times, and his brother Jerry, who retired from Carrier Air
Conditioning in Florida and operated a card shop there, will open their first
Marco's Pizza in Henderson, NV, a Las Vegas suburb, in September 2004. The
address of the new store is 90 S. Stephanie.
"Marco's and the Las Vegas area are a perfect fit," Jerry Tippin said.
"As natives of Toledo, we grew up with Marco's. They have a great product, a
reputation for great service, and a great image, and Henderson is one of the
fastest growing cities in the country."
Jim Tippin said that while he was successful with his car wash operation
which he has since sold, a recent windfall during a professional poker tourney
helped finance the new Marco's venture.
"I had acquired a second home in Nevada and joined a local poker club,"
Jim Tippin explained. "I thought I had become a pretty good poker player, so
I entered the 'Jack Binion World Poker Open' in Mississippi organized by the
son of the founder in Vegas. I entered a satellite tourney, won, and first
prize was a seat in the Open. I finished third, walked away with my winnings
and decided to join the Marco's team."
The new store is expected to employ some 25 persons. With 125 stores in
Ohio, Indiana and Michigan, Marco's Pizza serves custom-made pizzas, freshly-
