TORONTO, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - In just 30 days, Check n Raise
Poker.com is going to take the online gaming industry by storm! Developed in
Toronto by Funtime Hospitality Corp., a publicly-traded company on the TSX
Venture Exchange, Check n Raise Poker.com will be opening for business on
September 26, 2004.
Check n Raise Poker.com has been in development for seven months by a
class-A team of technology, network security, gaming strategy, legal, and
business development professionals. As well, Bob "The Poker Coach" Ciaffone, a
World Series of Poker finalist and world-renowned poker author, is a Director
of Funtime and has been providing tactical advice on how Check n Raise
Poker.com will become the best Poker website on the Internet.
Instead of becoming a "skin" of a current poker website or licensing
technology from a service provider, Check n Raise Poker.com has gone against
these homogeneous and boring industry trends to instead develop proprietary
technology. This will allow their refreshing consumer programs and exciting
gaming promotions to be implemented in a fresh, new way that poker players
will find exhilarating.
The operations and servers for Check n Raise Poker.com will be located in
Curacao, Netherlands Antilles and will be conducted through Funtime
Hospitality Corp.'s wholly-owned subsidiary, Check n Raise Poker N.V., a
Netherlands Antilles corporation.
CEO with Extensive Gaming History in Ontario
Funtime Hospitality Corp. CEO Michael Mandel is well-known in Ontario
gaming circles. He formerly operated Fundtime Games Inc., a private Ontario
corporation engaged in the business of providing personnel, gaming equipment
and management of gaming operations to licensed charities who operated roving
gaming casinos in the Province of Ontario.
When the Ontario government announced its intention in 1996 to
restructure the province's charity gaming industry to permit permanent charity
gaming hall locations, Fundtime formed a joint venture with Consolidated Press
Holdings Ltd., Australia's major casino operator, to apply for licenses to
develop and operate some of these locations.
In September, 1997, the Corporation's joint venture was granted six
provincial licenses to operate charity gaming clubs, and substantial sums of
money were expended on site selection and pre-opening costs. However, on June
26, 1998, the Ontario government without warning or explanation revoked the
licenses, and announced plans to replace the proposed 44 charity gaming clubs
with four commercial-sized casinos that would be owned and operated by the
Province.
After lengthy negotiations, a financial settlement was achieved with the
Province.
Still committed to the validity of Gaming as a profitable business
venture, and aware of the incredible global growth trend of Poker as an
industry, Michael Mandel has decided to get back "in the game" with a
vengeance. He believes that Check n Raise Poker.com will be the best Poker
website built by card players for card players, and will quickly grow to
become one of the top ten gaming websites on the Internet within a year of its
September 26, 2004 launch.
