Families can call a free financial aid hotline to get answers to their award
letter questions -- and possibly a scholarship for their student
SAN FRANCISCO, March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- College-bound students are
receiving their award letters, and families are trying to figure out how to
decode the information and understand the differences between offers. As
universal acceptance day approaches on May 1st, families need help figuring
out the financial aid packages offered by the school, and in determining their
options. No two award letters are alike, and every family's situation is
unique.
Chela Education Financing, a leading education financing provider, has
opened their highly successful help line for students and parents for a second
consecutive year. The Chela Higher Education Answer Center (CHEAC) is
available at 866.77.CHELA (24352) Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
(PST) and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (PST).
CHEAC offers fast, informed and unbiased answers to questions such as:
- How do I understand my financial aid award letter?
- How do I decipher the EFC and COA?
- What's the difference between gift aid, work study, and loans
- What if my financial aid package doesn't cover all of my education
costs?
- What will I pay out-of-pocket to attend college?
- Where do I find scholarships?
"We launched CHEAC last year, not knowing what type of response to expect,
but believing it was the right thing to do," says Chris Strausser, Managing
Director at Chela. "But the response was fantastic; thousands of families
called, and the financial aid community is appreciative and impressed with
Chela's industry-leading approach to demystifying the financial aid process
for families, and helping them understand their options."
Chela is also offering two scholarship programs totaling $100,000 in
scholarships for high school and college students. Students can apply by
