Currents Becomes the Official Publication of FiSCA
WASHINGTON, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Financial Service Centers of
America today released the premiere issue of Currents magazine, the new
official magazine of the association and financial service centers throughout
the United States.
"Our new magazine is a natural outgrowth of FiSCA's already successful
Currents newsletter, a publication we've produced for several years," said
Gary A. Dachis, FiSCA Chairman. "FiSCA has been the voice of check cashers
and financial service centers for nearly 20 years. Now, Currents will be the
official magazine for financial service centers for the next 20 years and
beyond."
Currents, a collaborative publication effort between FiSCA and Grafico,
Inc., will feature comprehensive and timely reporting on the most pressing
industry issues and current events, while adding visionary looks into what's
ahead for financial service centers.
"We really see this magazine as THE source for practical information and
cutting-edge ideas for financial service centers and other money services
businesses," said Gerald Goldman, FiSCA's General Counsel and a member of the
new magazine's Editorial Advisory Board. "Currents is the thought leader for
a rapidly growing industry; federal and state industry regulators; financial
service center owners, managers and staff; and customers as well. We not only
see this as a much-needed resource for the industry, but we also see this as a
unique opportunity to reach the industry's decision-makers and strategic
thinkers."
Currents will be published five times a year, including four quarterly
issues and a special FiSCA national convention issue published each fall.
Each issue will be focused around a particular theme with the first covering
community issues and current hot topics such as bank discontinuance, payday
lending and payroll cards.
The second issue will focus on technology and will include a special
supplement titled the "Who's Who in Technology"; the third and fourth issues
will cover the national conference and related topics to be covered at the
annual event. The fifth and final issue of the year will provide an annual
review as well as a look ahead to the hot issues for 2006.
"Every issue will combine comprehensive and in-depth reporting on what's
new and interesting in the industry," said Phil La Borie, Managing Editor of
Currents. "But I'm really excited about the forward-looking and
thought-provoking features. That's where I think we'll separate ourselves from
the rest."
The magazine's circulation, which includes FiSCA members and their more
than 5,000 locations representing both large chain operations and local
neighborhood owners, will also reach subscribers throughout the financial
industry, in state and federal government, in the financial media, and in the
industry's legal and regulatory communities.
"I think the magazine's tagline says it all: 'Practical information &
cutting-edge ideas for the financial service center marketplace'," said Lou
Costantini, Creative Director of Currents and President and Chief Creative
Officer of Grafico, Inc. "That's a good description of the content we intend
to deliver."
"We also have really tried to make this something more than the usual
financial trade publication by adding fantastic visuals and cutting-edge
graphics to create an exciting, attractive look and feel," continued
Costantini.
The Financial Service Centers of America is a professional association
