ST. LOUIS, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Gregory Fitch and Kathryn Swan are
the newest members of the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MOHELA)
Board of Directors. Fitch holds a seat reserved for the Commissioner of
Higher Education for the State of Missouri and Swan's seat is designated for a
member of the Coordinating Board for Higher Education (CBHE).
"A major role of the MOHELA Board of Directors is to set the direction for
the organization and to help MOHELA realize our mission of eliminating
barriers for students so they can access higher education," stated Dr. Karen
Luebbert, Chair of the MOHELA Board of Directors. "Dr. Gregory Fitch and
Kathryn Swan share our passion for helping students and families further their
education," explained Michael Cummins, CEO and Executive Director of MOHELA.

goals."
Dr. Fitch, a native of Kansas City, Mo., became Commissioner in January,
2005 after serving as the founding president of the Utah College of Applied
Technology (UCAT). Prior to his role at UCAT, he served as executive director
for the Idaho State Board of Education which encompassed grades Pre K through
20. In this capacity he was responsible for coordinating and developing a
state educational budget in excess of $1 billion annually.
Swan was reappointed to the CBHE board in January, 2005 by Governor Blunt.
She is the president and owner of JCS/TEL-LINK, a wireless communications
company in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and has been a strong supporter of
education. Swan previously served as a member of the Board of Education for
the Cape Girardeau School District and has been active in both regional and
state school board associations.
She was also a member of the Business Education Roundtable, and currently
serves on the Education Council Administrative Committee of the Missouri
Chamber of Commerce, the NFIB Missouri Leadership Council and the Missouri
Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board of Directors.
