ROCHESTER, Wash., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chehalis Tribe broke ground
this week on an impressive 70 room and suite hotel on the grounds of the Lucky
Eagle Casino, tribal leaders announced today. Scheduled to open in March 2005,
the hotel is designed to augment the facilities of the existing 65,000 square
foot casino opened in 1995, and to allow the Chehalis Tribes to continue to
attract customers from surrounding communities. "The new Lucky Eagle Casino
Hotel is the latest phase of our plan to expand our business base," said
Chehalis Tribal Chairman David Burnett. "We will soon have the ability to
offer overnight stays to attract additional business and travel customers."
The new hotel will be linked to the casino by a covered "sky bridge" walkway,
and will feature a heated indoor pool, sauna and exercise facilities, among
other amenities. Accommodations will range from high quality single rooms to
two- and three-bedroom luxury suites, complete with private hot tubs and
in-room fireplaces. Spacious meeting facilities, banquet and conference rooms
will be available at the adjacent casino. In addition to new casino customers,
the Chehalis Tribe plans to introduce long distance travel packages that
include side-trips to other area tourist attractions. Among those on the
"short list" of potential destinations are the outlet and antique malls of
Centralia and Chehalis, the Port of Olympia, and the popular Visitors Center
at Mount St. Helens.
"The ability to host overnight guests on our own property will enable us
to offer a greater experience," said John Setterstrom, Lucky Eagle Casino
General Manager. "Guests will be able to avoid driving home after late night
events and concerts, and those coming from a distance can dine and play at the
casino, stay overnight and have a base from which to travel to other area
destinations if they wish." The project is expected to have minimal impact on
existing operations of the casino. "The hotel site is located on space that
had been used for overflow parking," Setterstrom added. "It will be business
as usual right up to the Grand Opening." The Lucky Eagle Casino is currently
one of the largest employers in the south Puget Sound area. Upon completion of
the hotel, over 50 people will work at the new facility.
The Lucky Eagle Casino is located just off Highway 12 in Rochester,
Washington. Featured games include Video Slot Machines, Video Poker,
Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Bingo and Keno. The casino also hosts a wide range
of special events, including live professional boxing, concerts, comedy shows
and more. The general public can visit http://www.luckyeagle.com for more
