Shared Values
Shared Success
Although we operate under different names in different settings, the
companies of Fred Meyer, Inc. share strong core values. We believe
in service. We believe in quality. And we believe in the people who
deliver these advantages to our customers and communities. Here
and on the pages that follow, you'll see these beliefs in action and
meet members of the Fred Meyer team who are turning our
common values into a foundation for shared success.
Superior Customer Service
At Smith's they call it the Golden
Rule. At Ralphs it's called Signature
Customer Service. At Fred Meyer
it's PACE: pleasing all customers
every day. And at QFC, it's simply
the way they do business. All our
stores operate on the belief that cus-tomer
loyalty is built on quality,
courtesy, and integrity. This belief,
practiced from the warehouse to the
cash register, unites our employees
and distinguishes Fred Meyer com-panies
from their competitors.
Quality Products
No matter what region they serve
and what they sell, Fred Meyer com-panies
epitomize quality. Freshness
and selection define supermarket
businesses like Ralphs, with its
award-winning dairies. QFC,
renowned for its produce, also has
carved out a niche with Chef 's
Express-easy gourmet alternatives
to home-cooked meals. Customers
from Albuquerque to Salt Lake
look to Smith's for delicious deli
foods and great private-brand
products.And whether they're buy-ing
a fresh cantaloupe, a Seiko watch,
or Fila shoes, customers know they
can count on Fred Meyer Stores for
nothing less than the best.
A Commitment to People
At each company, customer service
and quality begin with employees.
Training and education help rein-force
our philosophy and tell
employees that their profession-alism
is appreciated. For example,
while QFC managers are sharp-ening
their skills with a degree
from Q University, Fred Meyer
employees are learning through
PEP, the product education
process, and being recognized
through PACE.These and similar
efforts underway at Ralphs and
Smiths Food & Drug Centers are
just the beginning of our investment
in future leaders throughout
Fred Meyer companies.
Support for Our Communities
Every day, somewhere in Fred
Meyer territory, someone is
reaching out to a community we
serve. Last year, Fred Meyer Stores
employees volunteered more
than 4,700 hours of their time to
local non-profit organizations.
Smith's made donations to children's
health organizations in the
Southwest. QFC and the
Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation
focused on improving the quality
of life in the Pacific Northwest
and Southern California. And
managers in every city we serve
said "yes" when local nonprofits
asked for donations and support
for community events. Activities
like these complete the connec-tion
between Fred Meyer and its
markets, because we don't just
serve our communities-we also
call them home.
